Anshar Studios is seeking Senior/Mid Character Artist to join our on-site team and grow with us on our upcoming projects. Currently, we employ over 180 specialists at our studio in Katowice, and we are always open to new talented artists eager to join us. This is an on-site only position based in our office in Katowice, Poland.
Responsibilities:
- Design and create high-quality 3D characters, including clothing, gear, and accessories, while respecting project style and quality standards.
- Review the work of Junior Character Artists and provide constructive feedback on technical and artistic aspects, supporting their growth within the team.
- Use Marvelous Designer to create realistic, high-quality garments that complement character designs.
- Model and sculpt characters (organic and hard-surface props) in ZBrush, Blender, Maya, or 3ds Max.
- Create textures and materials using PBR workflows for Unreal Engine.
- Develop and optimize characters for real-time performance, ensuring proper topology while maintaining design integrity.
- Ensure characters integrate seamlessly with provided rigs and function smoothly in-game.
- Collaborate with Art Directors, Team Leaders, Concept Artists, and Animators to achieve cohesive storytelling through character design.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in character creation for the gaming industry, in an AA or AAA studio.
- Strong skills in sculpting and modeling characters (organic and hard-surface elements) using ZBrush, Blender, Maya, or similar tools.
- Advanced proficiency in Marvelous Designer, with the ability to simulate and model high-quality garments.
- Proficiency in Substance Painter and PBR texturing workflows.
- Basic knowledge of Unreal Engine, including asset integration and optimization for real-time performance.
- At least one shipped title with a strong focus on character art.
- Ability to give clear, constructive feedback and support the development of less experienced team members.
- Communicative English, both spoken and written (B1/B2 level).
- Fluent Polish, both spoken and written.
- Willingness to work from our office in Katowice, Poland (on-site position only).
Pluses:
- Experience mentoring or onboarding junior artists.
- Experience with cloth simulation tools directly in game engines (e.g., Unreal Engine).
- Experience collaborating on characters beyond visual design, including gameplay abilities, perks, or in-engine implementation.
- Basic understanding of rigging and skinning, sufficient to ensure characters work correctly with existing rig frameworks.
Salary:
8 350 - 15 050 PLN gross (or equivalent on a B2B basis) depending on skills and experience.
